Coaches

ROB CAFIERO – Manager
An assistant coach at Hofstra University, Cafiero returns for his 10th season as the head coach of the Southampton Breakers. He has guided the Breakers to the playoffs in three of his four seasons and to league titles in 2012 and 2014.

Cafiero played four years at Villanova, setting numerous school records and earning All-America honors as a freshman. Most notably, Rob stands atop the Wildcats' all-time rankings for runs batted in, games played and doubles, and is in the top five for five other offensive categories. In 2002, Cafiero was drafted in the 32nd round by the Philadelphia Phillies and went on to play seven years of professional baseball, including with Class-A Batavia and then the Pennsylvania Road Warriors and Long Island Ducks of the Atlantic League. Cafiero started his coaching career as the bench coach for the Long Island Ducks and as anassistant for the 2009 ACBL champion Westhampton Aviators.

Cafiero owns and operates Hitter’s Club, an indoor baseball/softball facility in Farmingdale, N.Y., where he trains over 1,000 aspiring youth athletes.

JOHN CLARK – Pitching Coach
The pitching coach for the HCBL's Center Moriches squad in 2012 and 2013, Clark was named to the same position in Southampton for the 2015 campaign. A veteran of the Suffolk County baseball scene, having coached at every level from middle school to college over the last 40 years, Clark is currently the pitching coach at Bellport High School, and a pitching instructor at nearby All Pro Sports Academy.

Clark is a 1972 graduate of the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, NY, having majored in engineering and spent 33 years working for ExxonMobil at sea. He played baseball for four years at the Academy – serving as captain for two – where he played for Mr. Bill Polian, who gained fame later for putting together two winning NFL franchises.

CHRIS CLARK – Assistant Coach
An assistant coach with the HCBL's Center Moriches club in 2012 and 2013, Clark shifted over to Southampton beginning with the 2015 season. Clark has been an assistant coach at Sachem North High School since 2005, handling the Arrows' pitching staff and outfielders. Other experience includes serving as an assistant with the Long Island Empire State Games team from 2002 to 2006, and he has been an instructor at All Pro Sports Academy in Bellport since 2007. Clark graduated from the New York Institute of Technology in 1999 with a degree in secondary education. He currently works as a social studies teacher in the Levittown School District.
