Sag Harbor to host 2023 HCBL All-Star Game
The 2023 HCBL All-Star Game heads to a new venue when for the first time ever it will be played at Mashashimuet Park the home of the defending HCBL champion Sag Harbor Whalers. Sag Harbor will play the host venue for the 10th HCBL All-Star Game on Saturday, July 15th.
The All-Star Game will have the Team Red vs. Team Blue format for the All-Star Game for the first time since 2019 after the last two All-Star Games were Team Red vs. Team Gold in 2021 and 2022. At a certain point in the season, the first, third, and fifth-place teams in the HCBL standings will represent Team Red while the second, fourth, and sixth-place teams in the standings will represent Team Gold.
Also, there will be some notable changes to the format of the All-Star Game with it being the 10th HCBL All-Star Game. The All-Star Game will be a ten-inning game for the first time since the Inaugural HCBL All-Star Game back in 2013.
Mashashimuet Park becomes the third venue in HCBL history to host the HCBL All-Star Game. Cochran Park in Peconic, the home of the North Fork Ospreys hosted the last three All-Star Games in 2019, 2021, and 2022, along with the first two HCBL All-Star Games in 2013 and 2014. Lasorda Legacy Park (formerly Baseball Heaven) in Yaphank hosted the HCBL All-Star Game from 2015-2018.
The 2022 HCBL All-Star Game saw a come-from-behind victory by Team Red coming back from a 7-1 deficit to beat Team Gold by a final score of 9-8. Southampton’s Freddy Forgione (SUNY Maritime) led the Team Red comeback with a home run, two hits and a pair of RBI to be named the game’s Most Valuable Player.
