Shelter Island’s Salamon Named 2022 HCBL MVP

Blake Salamon (Northwood) was the Shelter Island Bucks’ leader at the plate in the 2022 season as he won the HCBL batting title with a .412 batting average. Salamon took another award in his 2022 HCBL season as he was selected as the league’s MVP.
Salamon had 42 hits for the Bucks in 2022 in 103 at-bats. Salamon had three home runs for Shelter Island and ranked in the top five in RBI with 25 on the season.
Salamon was selected to the HCBL prospect team at the Southeast Collegiate Prospect Showcase in Virginia where he had a pair of hits and two RBI against the top prospects of the Florida and Southern leagues.
The Michigan native is the third Shelter Island Bucks player to be named as the HCBL MVP. Thomas Roulis (Dartmouth) was selected as Co-MVP in the Bucks inaugural season in 2012 with Center Moriches’ Joe Solomeno (Pace). Eddie Haus (St. Mary’s (CA) was the HCBL MVP in Shelter Island’s 2015 HCBL championship season.
