Tommy John, legendary major league pitcher and three-time World Series participant, will be in attendance at four Hamptons Collegiate Baseball games this weekend to meet and greet players and fans in all communities.
Friday: Southampton @ Riverhead, Riverhead HS, 5 p.m.; North Fork @ Westhampton, Hite Field, 5 p.m.
Saturday: Westhampton @ Sag Harbor, Mashashimuet Park, 5 p.m.; Riverhead @ North Fork, Cochran Park, 7 p.m.
Sunday: North Fork @ Southampton, Stony Brook Southampton, 5 p.m.
Fans are encouraged to stop by the ball field to meet and take photos with John, as well as take in all the action. John will also chat with and work with pitchers prior to the game.
John won 288 games during his 26-year career, which included four All-Star Game selections, three 20-win seasons and three World Series appearances. His win total is seventh-highest among left-handers in major league history. John played eight seasons over two stints with the Yankees, winning 21 games in 1979 and 22 in 1980. John is also famous for being the first pitcher in history to undergo the revolutionary operation that has since become known as Tommy John Surgery.
