Hamptons Collegiate Baseball rosters for the 2010 summer season have been released. More than 120 players from 70-plus universities from across the country will be represented.
"We are thrilled to once again bring free family entertainment to the east end of Long Island this summer," HCB President Rusty Leaver said. "With players hailing from top collegiate baseball programs, we're excited about having these future major league stars put their skills on display for the East End this summer."
Several of the incoming student-athletes are off to sizzling starts to their college seasons. Among hitters, Billy Ferriter (North Fork) leads UConn with a .483 batting average, Cody Slaughter (Riverhead) is batting .389 for Brown, and Dayton's Joey Gayda (Sag Harbor) is hitting .343 from the leadoff hole. In Westhampton, the Manhattan tandem of John Soldinger (1.80 ERA) and Ramon Ortega (.415 average) is partly responsible for the Jaspers' 7-4 start, and Southampton welcomes HCB's first-ever Hawaiian born player in Blake Amaral, who's hitting .371 with five homers and 28 RBI for the Sea Warriors of Hawaii Pacific.
Rosters are available on each team page on the HCB site. They can also be viewed at www.acbl-online.com/ by clicking on the Teams tab on the left-hand side.
