Greskoff Named National Co-Player of the Year

Peter Greskoff, a 2009 member of the Riverhead Tomcats, was named the SummerCollegeLeagues.com Co-Player of the Year earlier this month, sharing the honor with Gonzaga's Drew Heid of the Alaska Glacier Pilots of the Alaska Baseball League.

 

Greskoff posted a batting average of .397, an on-base percentage of .510, and a slugging percentage of .760 in 121 at-bats in the Atlantic Coast Baseball League. He also hit 14 doubles, 10 home runs, scored 28 runs, drove in 37, and stole two bases. Greskoff was named the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League co-MVP along with Ken Gregory of the Jersey Pilots. 

 

The 6-foot-3, 222-pound junior first baseman from Brown University led all summer college league players in slugging percentage. He was also in the top 10 for batting average (7th), on-base percentage (4th), and home runs (tied for 9th).

 

In Alaska, Heid led the nation with a batting average of .427 and added an on-base percentage of .495, and a slugging percentage of .614. In 171 at-bats.  He hit 18 doubles (tying an ABL record), a triple, four home runs, had 31 RBI, scored 41 runs, and stole 11 bases. Heid earned the Alaska Baseball League’s Kosinski Award, given annually to the league’s most valuable player.
